Lea Kraemer began practicing and teaching Yoga over 25 years ago, introduced by the dance community in NYC! Since then she has practiced and studied extensively. Traveling to India every year for many years, she practiced Ashtanga Yoga with the Master, Sri. K Pattabhi Jois for the first time in 1995, took Tibetan Buddhist teachings in Dharamsala, meditated in Amritsar at the Golden Temple and enjoyed Ayurvedic treatment in the hills of Coimbature. In New York, Colorado and New Mexico she completed certifications in Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan and Vinyasa Yoga and has been a student of classical Ayurveda for the past eight years through Kerala Ayurveda and now the DINacharya Institute, where she is also a faculty member.
In NYC, Lea worked with major hospitals to develop specialized classes in Yoga for those healing from chronic illness and was involved in research projects on the effects and impacts of Yoga for patients overcoming Stroke, HIV, Diabetes, Cancer and other illnesses. She is awed by the healing power of nature and divine Breath, Prana.
Lea founded PRANA MANDIR Yoga, with a NYC Studio that operated for nine years. She continues to give PRANA MANDIR Teacher Trainings in Vinyasa Yoga and Yoga as Therapy through AGNI, a Yoga Intensive. Graduates now teach all over the world in studios and at their own centers and ashrams.
The most beautiful thing about Yoga is its daily journey. In this, every practitioner is exactly perfectly where they need to be. Yoga is moment to moment awareness, beginning with Ahimsa, kindness and compassion, and continuing in Bliss, a healthy, steadily joyful mind and body.
Lea feels , “My favorite chants and prayers are about devotional love and light.” The Arati Lijo to the Guru says:
O Unbegotten, Imperishable. O Perfect One, Radiating Light
The sky and the earth are your offering trays; the moon and the sun your bright flames; the agara and sandal trees your incense powder; Mount Meru your swing; and the branches of the trees your whisks.
